The impact app was born out of social need. It’s purpose is to chip away at the poverty cycle.

Many U.S. citizen struggle to make ends meet at the end of the day - the week, the month - but what does it mean to truly be impoverished? The government recognizes poverty as living without the basic necessities of life. More specifically, someone is considered to be in poverty if their income amounts to less than $31 per day. Today, 40.6 million people in the United States live in poverty, further, one third of this number is represented by children. Just over thirteen million children aren’t getting enough to eat each day. Thirteen million of our future leaders are suffering malnutrition. How can we expect these children to properly and positively learn in school, to grow up presented with the same opportunities as their peers? Unfortunately, the reality is that their disadvantages persist and those in poverty, more often than not, stay in poverty. The cycle of poverty is an everlasting issue faced in the U.S. and around the world. It is nearly impossible to break and leads to additional issues and struggles.

This app exists to take away just some of the many disadvantages that are faced by those in low-income communities. By providing basic resources that are otherwise a struggle to obtain by those in poverty, tension is eased, hope seeps in, and the community grows stronger together. It is a community dependent app in order to create a community based off of trust and respect. The absence of trust and respect in a community leads to increased levels of crime—often found in low-income communities.

“impact” offers resources for tutoring, legal aid, and supplies- school, disaster relief supplies, and food.
